News - Intro image
PONT ROULANT PROTECH is carrying out a project to equip with overhead cranes the two maintenance centers of the Réseau express métropolitain (REM), which will open in the Montreal metropolitan area in 2021.

The use of overhead cranes and lifting devices is common in many industries. This is the case for the public transportation industry, for which Pont Roulant Protech is an important partner for the construction of maintenance centers and for the installation of lifting equipment with different capacities according to the needs expressed by the customer.

The company NOUVLR, responsible for the engineering and construction of the REM's light rail transit system, composed of SNC-Lavalin, Dragados Canada Inc, Groupe Aecon Québec ltée, Pomerleau inc. and EBC inc. has entrusted Pont Roulant Protech with the engineering, manufacturing and installation of eight overhead cranes with a capacity of 10T for the maintenance centers that will be located at each end of the lines, namely Quartier Dix30 on the South Shore and Deux Montagnes on the North Shore. However, the South Shore crane will be the larger of the two centers. Covering an area of 22,000 m², this maintenance center will be dedicated to the day-to-day maintenance and storage of trains. It will also include an automated train wash building.
