LIARD INDUSTRIES CONTINUES TO SERVE SEVERAL KEY INDUSTRIAL SECTORS

News - Intro image
While many businesses around the globe have had to cease activity as part of measures to combat coronavirus, Liard Industries is continuing to produce equipment and machinery for several sectors identified as essential.

The forestry sector is top of the list, viewed as essential on account of its production of pulp and paper. From processed pulp and paper, protective masks and toilet paper are manufactured—both high-demand products during this pandemic! Whether overhead cranes for the forestry industry or sawmill and factory machinery are required, LIARD INDUSTRIES will continue to serve our Canadian and American clients with the same quality standards we have always been known for.

Learning to adapt

However, not all operations are running as before at Liard. The production teaWhile many businesses around the globe have had to cease activity as part of measures to combat coronavirus, Liard Industries is continuing to produce equipment and machinery for several sectors identified as essential.

The production team, reduced by 50%, today only operates in two shifts, so as to respect social distancing recommendations of 6 feet (2 meters) between workers. All necessary work tools and equipment are disinfected before and after use—every time an employee uses a tool or touches a lever. Everyone must regularly wash their hands and disinfect their place in the cafeteria, though also in the bathroom. In addition to the new work shift, and as staff are called up to help fulfill an order, downtime for lunch and breaks is now being alternated so as to respect social distancing aims.

As for our office staff, around 80% are still working either from the factory or from home, much like the owners, Philippe and Isabelle Liard, who are running operations remotely. Such changes for the team have required a period of adaptation, but everyone is taking care while working in this secure environment, to help benefit the health of our entire community.

"It’s another way of working...and we’ve adapted, we are taking care of each other and our clients are satisfied. In actual fact, it’s really a question of being socially responsible!"

– Philippe Liard, co-owner of Liard Industries

Other sectors served during the pandemic

Liard is also continuing to manufacture spare parts needed for equipment maintenance in the petrochemical industry. And we are also manufacturing machinery for processing animal feed.

If you belong to a sector considered essential during the pandemic, contact LIARD INDUSTRIES. We have all the welding, tooling or mechanical assembly operations needed for the entire manufacture of your equipment under one roof.
