IMPROVING YOUR AERIAL LADDER TRUCK’S PERFORMANCE IN WINTER

News - Intro image
With the harsher months of our winter coming up, your aerial ladder truck needs to be well prepared.

You will find all the information you need in your handbook or, why not take the opportunity to have it inspected at RH Equipment.

HANDBOOK

Your handbook will guide you through the steps to follow to carry out certain repairs yourself. For example, changing extension leads, rollers, etc. If you’re not a born mechanic, RH Equipment can take care of it for you at one of its service centers. Visit the “contact” section of our website to see a list of our centers in Québec, Canada and the United States. Basic maintenance is very easy to carry out—there are only 21 lubrication points (15 minutes) and the stainless-steel chains to be greased.

INSPECTION PROGRAM

To guarantee your safety and better performance this winter, as well as basic maintenance we highly recommend a general inspection by one of our technicians. This 50-point program covers aspects such as:

  • Checking the safety system

  • Checking electrical components are in good working order

  • Checking welding

  • Checking the structure and bolts

  • Checking hydraulics

After the inspection, our technicians will carry out the necessary maintenance and modifications, making sure that your equipment is functioning to its full potential and minimizing risks of wear:

  • Full lubrication

  • Replacing the oil filter

  • Oil change if necessary (must be done each year)

  • Cleaning the electric motor, terminals and connections

  • Basic checks, auxiliary batteries (if applicable)
